A new change by the state’s Game Commission will soon allow furbearer hunters to use night-vision and infrared optics.
The commission gave final approval to the regulatory change that will allow hunters to use night-vision optics that are either handheld or sporting-arm mounted.
“Following the passage of HB 1188, the Board of Commissioners was flooded with comments asking for prompt adoption of regulations permitting the use of night-vision equipment,” said board President Charlie Fox.
“The board did just that, and hunters now will be able to use these devices this year, and at a time when furbearer pelts are becoming prime. This equipment will provide furbearer hunters an additional tool that will allow them to be more efficient and safe when hunting at night.”
The change is expected to go into effect in about six to eight weeks.
