An agreement between Summit Township and the Butler Area School District will allow for the installation of new playground equipment at Summit Township Elementary School for use by the whole community.
The Butler Area School Board approved a revised agreement with Summit Township at their Monday night meeting to allow for the township to place equipment they received through a grant on school district property.
The agreement lasts for 25 years and Summit Township will pay the district $1 per year in rent to construct and maintain the playground for community use. Students will still use the playground during school hours. The district will maintain insurance on the property.
Summit Township received grant funding for the equipment through the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources last year and the land has been prepared for an installation estimated to begin October 30th.
