Authorities are investigating a recent case of identity theft that occurred in nearby Mercer County.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, a Lackawannock Township man had his identity stolen and a loan applied for and granted under his name.
Officials say that the loan was for COVID-19 relief for a small trucking company reported to be several states away. Police say that the loan was issued in his debt for $45,000.
According to officials, the money was direct-deposited into a now canceled account.
It is unclear if there are any suspects at this time.
