Students at local high schools are being encouraged to use problem-solving, creative, and strategic-thinking abilities to solve real-world problems.
Submissions for the fourth annual PennDOT Innovations Challenge will continue to be accepted through this Friday.
PennDOT is asking kids in grades 9 through 12 to come up with innovative and implementable solutions to help address Pennsylvania’s transportation revenue shortfall by identifying potential new funding streams, aside from additional gas taxes, tolls or mileage-based user fees, to help ensure adequate transportation funding for the future.
Regional winners will be selected to go to Harrisburg and compete for the state championship and $5,500 divided between the top three teams. Those interested in more information about this contest should visit PennDOT’s website for more details.
