A Butler County pig farm owner stands accused of trying to bring home too much bacon.
According to a criminal complaint filed by a special agent with the PA Attorney General’s Office, Larry Lint of Somerset County owned a pig farm in northern Butler County that operated as a hunting preserve where people could shoot wild Eurasian boar or deer on 43 acres.
In January of 2016 Lint filed an insurance claim with Nationwide about a fence on his property that had been cut causing 100 boar and 62 deer to escape. Nationwide paid Lint about $50,000 but an investigation by the Department of Agriculture did not find any evidence of the escaped pigs. In May of the same year, Lint filed another claim that 44 boar escaped from a different hole. He was reimbursed over $21,000 by Nationwide. Three months later, Lint filed a third claim that a tree fell on his fence allowing 68 boars to escape. The claim was then referred to a special investigator with Nationwide who denied the claim after investigation. Lint also allegedly filed for bankruptcy during this time.
Lint has been charged with multiple felonies including insurance fraud, theft by deception, and perjury.
