A local lawmaker is continuing to voice his opposition to a plan that would see Pennsylvania join the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.
In his role as Chairman of the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, Republican Representative Daryl Metcalfe signed on to a letter to RGGI Board members.
The letter was adopted during a meeting earlier this week and claims that Wolf does not have the authority to enter the state into the initiative without legislative approval.
The letter claims that the state Department of Environmental Protection has violated the Air Pollution Control Act and that attempting to join RGGI will “violate the Constitution of Pennsylvania”. The letter also expresses the likelihood of “a lengthy court battle”.
This letter was also signed by Representative R. Lee James who represents a portion of residents in northeast Butler County.
