Gas prices have increased both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon regular, unleaded, self-serve in Butler, as of Monday, shot up to $3.10 per gallon which is seven cents more than last week.
Prices also rose to $3.09 per gallon across western Pennsylvania as a whole over the past week which is an increase of six cents. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $ 3.07 per gallon, while the most expensive is $3.12 in Mercer.
The average national gas price bumped up by six cents over the past week to $2.96 which is just three cents shy of a high set in November of 2014. AAA expects pump prices to continue to surge this week as a result of the temporary shutdown of the Colonial pipeline due to cyber attack as well as rising price of and demand for crude oil.
