Tunch Ilkin, the longtime color analyst on the Pittsburgh Steelers Radio Network, has announced his retirement.
Ilkin made it official this morning that he was stepping down from the booth to focus on his treatment for ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Ilkin first announced his diagnosis with the disease last fall, but remained in the booth all season long.
Ilkin says he still stays very active by walking everyday along with other treatments for ALS.
Overall, Ilkin spent 23 years in the Steelers radio booth.
