The City of Butler Parks, Recreation Grounds, and Facilities Authority will pay concessions employees more in an effort to retain staff.
Monday night, the authority approved a recommendation from a representative of the Butler Hot Dog Shoppe who handles concessions for the Authority, about increasing the pay of all seven current employees by $1 per hour for the remainder of this year.
Any new hires will begin by earning a rate of $8 per hour for this year with the authority expected to consider pay rates for next year sometime this winter. The authority plans to balance out this expected $1,000 increase in expenses by waiting until next year to purchase a slushie machine which remains on backorder.
The authority also gave permission for spending $300 to purchase and replace a cordless microphone in the press box as well as $600 to replace a worn down section of the pitcher’s mound which is a regularly occurring expense as much as the field is being used.
