More money is heading to a Butler County housing program that helps with home repairs to those with low income.
It’s called the Emergency Owner-Occupied Repair Program and its set to receive an additional $75,000 for the rest of the year. County officials say the group ran out of money for the program already.
But, that’s in stark contrast to previous years. Each year, the county allots $75,000 to the program, but rarely has the Housing Authority used it all. County commissioners say pandemic related closures and increased costs have resulted in the program exhausting funds already.
However, the county solicitor says the program has surplus funds from previous years meaning it will still operate in the black for 2021.
