Butler Area School District is experiencing significant delays in transporting some students for a second day in a row on Tuesday.
After the district sent out a message to student contacts shortly before 3 p.m. Monday about delays, another similar message was sent out Tuesday around 12:30 p.m. Some parents told our newsroom that their children had been delayed by over an hour in getting home on Monday.
The messages explain that the delays for certain buses are as a result of a shortage of bus drivers. Butler administrators continued by saying information about specific bus routes would follow. The district will be trying to combine some bus routes in an effort to address the issue.
Butler has been trying to help their busing contractor Valley Lines attract drivers and bus monitors for several weeks with the knowledge that a shortage could result in longer routes and delays.
