State health officials say they are ready to administer COVID booster shots as soon as the CDC gives final approval.
Acting Health Secretary Alison Beam details what orders she has put in place to help distribute the booster shots.
“To help solidify the preparation for booster shots, I am signing an order that requires vaccine providers to provide online scheduling for vaccine appointments; to provide a telephone numbers with prompts to a live agent during normal business hours to assist with scheduling appointments; and then offer walk-in appointments where possible,” Beam said.
An FDA advisory committee recently recommended a booster shot for those 65 and older, and those with underlying conditions.
Currently, only those who are immunocompromised are eligible to receive the third shot.
