A new bill aims to help bring more teachers into Pennsylvania.
Senator Carmen Bartolotta (R-Beaver, Greene, Washington) says the proposed law would make the process for teachers who earned their certificate from out-of-state easier to teach in Pennsylvania.
“Currently, Pennsylvania’s teacher certification process is not hospitable to teachers from other states. This hurts our students because qualified teachers from out-of-state are less likely to consider teaching in the Commonwealth during their careers because the process is costly and overly cumbersome,” Bartolotta said.
Bartolotta says that newly issued teaching certificates have dropped by 66 percent since 2010.
