Butler County is trying to make other arrangements to continue their household hazardous waste and electronic collection after their contractor decided to cease all operations immediately and permanently.
According to the County’s Environmental Specialist, Recycling and Farmland Coordinator, the two remaining collections scheduled for this year along with the 12 planned for next year have been canceled until further notice.
Qualified collectors are currently being researched that may be able to continue this popular program.
The county began holding once a year events in 2002 and expanded the program to once per month in 2010. Nearly 600 tons of electronics and over 400 tons of hazardous waste has been collected during that time.
