A local lawmaker is advancing a bill that would help combat Chronic Wasting Disease.
U.S. Congressman Glenn “GT” Thompson who represents a portion of Butler County in the 15th District of Pennsylvania is one of two lawmakers to introduce the Chronic Wasting Disease Research and Management Act.
This act would fund research as well as support state and tribal efforts to develop and implement management strategies with the goal of eradicating this contagious neurological disease in deer, elk, and moose.
It is not yet know how Chronic Wasting Disease is transmitted and there is no known cure so the disease has a 100% fatality rate.
