High School Sports:
Boys Basketball:
–The Knoch Boys fell 52-50 in triple overtime last night to host Kiski. Ryan Lang led Knoch with 25 points. Keagan Fraser added 14. It was the first triple overtime game for Knoch since January 2008 when they fell 81-71 to Hampton.
–The Mars Boys won two of their three games in the tournament in Pensacola Beach, Florida. Wednesday–the Planets defeated Walker Valley, Tennessee 69-48. Zach Schlegel led Mars with 18 points. Tasso Sfanos added 15. Chris Dvorak had a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds. The tournament was played at Gulf Breeze high school in Pensacola.
–Seneca Valley defeated host Moon to win the Moon Holiday Tournament 40-39.
–Slippery Rock defeated Redbank Valley 57-37 in the Freeport Tournament Round Robin.
–Grove City topped Chartiers Valley 66-64 in the consolation game of the Hampton Tournament.
(North Hills won the championship with an 82-50 win over the host team).
Girls Basketball:
–The Knoch Girls had another impressive win in the Kiski Tournament, beating the host team 50-17. Maddie Boyer had Knoch with 22 points.
–Host Butler fell to Oakland Catholic 52-30 last night. Armstrong topped Hempfield 62-39 in the other tournament game.
–The Mars Girls won the Highlands Tournament following a 66-29 win over Connellsville.
–Grove City won the Laurel Tournament after a 32-29 win over the host team.
–North Catholic fell to Chartiers Valley 63-52 in the North Allegheny Round Robin Tournament.
–Moniteau Girls defeated Sharon 60-28 in the Mercer Christmas Tournament.
The Knoch Boys and Girls meet Yough today in the Kiski Tournament. WISR will again carry both games. The Knoch Girls play at 3pm. Pre-game is 2:45pm.
Butler will face Erie in the North Allegheny Holiday Bash tonight at 7:30pm. Hear the game on WBUT beginning at 7:20pm.
