Donald Exline Hixon II left this world and is singing and worshipping his Savior in Heaven today. He passed into the arms of Jesus Monday night, January 3rd, with his loving wife, Tammy, by his side. He was most importantly a faithful and loving husband, father, son, & brother. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Tammy (Dyer) Hixon and his children Donald Exline Hixon III (Trey), Leta, Elizabeth, Isaac, Quintin, and Trenton.
He will be missed by his parents Philip and Cheyrill Hixon; his grandmother, Alice Bajcz; his sister Alicia (Hixon) Norman and her husband and children; his brother Philip J Hixon II (PJ) and his two sons; as well as his father- and mother-in-law Joe & Leta Dyer and sister- and brother-in-law Brandon & Kimberly (Dyer) Prudhomme & their 2 sons.
He was proceeded in death by his maternal grandfather, Gary Weinzierl, & his paternal grandfather & grandmother: Donald & Esther Hixon.
He graduated from Seneca Valley High School (1995) and Bryan College (2000).
Don touched countless lives with his mentoring & teaching starting at Portersville Christian School, then moving to Penn Christian Academy, Western Beaver School District, and finally Farrell School District. His passions included music, serving at Bright Hope Community Church, farming, working with Sing Hosanna Ministries, & working with the Pennsylvania Music Educators Assoc. (PMEA).
Don’s children want everyone to remember him as “the best father” who always supported them, never missing a performance or concert or chance to take them out on the tractor, even as his health declined. They are grateful for him teaching them to work hard & pushing them to be their best. He was someone who played the keys passionately, throwing in frequent glissandos to make them smile. He was “that guy” who screamed his way through the tunnel at Kennywood and embraced life with mischief & fun. He was much loved and will always be greatly missed.
