The man on trial for the Tree of Life synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh is requesting to change where his trial is held.
According to the Post-Gazette, Robert Bowers and his lawyers say the “pre-trial publicity” has made it difficult for a fair trial in the Western District of Pennsylvania court.
Bowers’ lawyers are also looking to make a plea deal that would save his life. Right now, federal prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
It’s not known if the court will grant his request.
Bowers has been held in the Butler County Prison since the deadly shooting that killed 11 worshippers in the Squirrel Hill synagogue in October 2018.
