A new study out of Pittsburgh shows that most patients that were vaccinated against COVID, but still got hospitalized were older and immunocompromised.
Allegheny Health Network published a study based off of the summer of last year. They said out of 473 patients admitted for COVID, 128 were fully vaccinated. However, nearly 90 percent of those patients were over the age of 65 and immunocompromised.
The hospital noted though that this study was done before booster shots were approved.
Doctors also found that no one under the age of 50 who was fully vaccinated ever had to go on ventilation or died of COVID.
They continue to encourage vaccinations and boosters, especially for older and immunocompromised patients.
