Governor Tom Wolf is continuing to make his pitch on how to spend nearly $2 billion of federal relief money.
“We are sitting on, literally billions of dollars of COVID relief money that was intended by the federal government to go out to help Pennsylvanians,” Wolf said. “It’s past time that we use that money. We need to improve the lives of Pennsylvanians. We have the wherewithal to do it.”
Wolf is advocating for $500 million to be used for the PA Opportunity Program, which he says would help workers and families cover the cost of child care, afford education, and pay for basic household expenses.
Republicans in the legislature have been hesitant to spend all of the federal relief money on programs that could be continuous, even after the money expires.
