Gas prices continue to skyrocket both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole over the past several days.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, increased by 18 cents over the past week to reach $4.33 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole increased by 24 cents during that same time to reach $4.38. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Uniontown at $4.31, while the most expensive is $4.46 in Warren.
The average national gas price rose by 26 cents over the past week to reach $4.32. According to AAA, the price of crude oil reached $123 per barrel before falling below $110. The demand for gas actually increased last week while gasoline stocks decreased. The price of oil is likely to continue as the driving factor behind expensive prices at the pump.
