Over the past couple of months, Pennsylvania’s Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding went on a tour that highlighted the food aspect of the agricultural industry.
He says a new study shows just how impactful food production is for the state’s economy.
“[Food] fuels jobs in so many ways. $132 billion on economic activity, and 490,000 jobs are directly tied to this industry of agriculture,” Redding said.
Redding made those comments at a mushroom farm in Chester County. He says mushrooms alone are a huge impact on Pennsylvania’s economy, as the Keystone State is responsible for nearly 60 percent of the U.S. production of mushrooms.
