The newly merged colleges in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education got the final stamp of approval to move forward.
The Middle States Commission has given accreditation to the two new institutions—Pennsylvania Western University and Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania.
The new college is also known as Penn West—and is the merger of Clarion, California, and Edinboro. While the three campuses will keep their identities, they will operate under the administrative umbrella of Penn West.
The merger is expected to become official on July 1st.
