A local lawmaker is continuing his quest to reform the Internal Revenue Service.
Republican U.S. Congressman Mike Kelly of Butler is among the group of 100 members of the federal legislative branch that recently sent a letter to the commissioner of the IRS.
The letter detailed ongoing concerns about customer service and processing issues at the federal agency even as another tax filing season is underway.
The lawmakers request that the IRS provide relief regarding notices that are required to be issued within a specific time that have not been suspended. This letter is also supported by various organizations such as the National Association of Tax Professionals and the National Society of Accountants.
