A meeting will be held next week to discuss the newly proposed cultural district in the City of Butler.
The initiative is being led by the Butler PM Rotary and aims establish an area in Downtown Butler that will serve as a space where arts and cultural diversity are celebrated.
A public education and visioning session will be held next Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Emily Brittain Elementary School. Organizers say they will provide a progress update and invite community members to provide their input.
In an email, Butler PM Rotary member Leslie Osche said “The Rotary’s pledge is to establish and geographically define through signage an Arts and Cultural District that will be bound by Jefferson Street on the South; McKean Street to the East; Wayne Street to the West; and E. Fulton Street to the North.”
“Our hope will also be to reimagine the use of Cedar Street as a pedestrian artwalk. The District will be a space where arts and cultural diversity may be expressed and celebrated. We already have wonderful anchors in the Maridon Museum; Butler Public Library; Butler Little Theatre; the YMCA; various churches, non-profits, and unique businesses, hotels, restaurants and shopping destinations,” Osche continued.
