A local lawmaker will convene a public hearing as well as a voting meeting on Monday to discuss the need for oil and natural gas products as well as increasing domestic energy production.
State Representative and Pennsylvania House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee Chairman Daryl Metcalfe will lead a hearing titled “Oil and Natural Gas Byproducts: Can We Live Without Them?” in Harrisburg beginning at 9:30 a.m. A number of business leaders and industry experts are expected to speak including the presidents of the Marcellus Shale Coalition and Pennsylvania Chemical Industry Council.
Metcalfe then plans to lead a voting meeting of the Environmental Resources and Energy Committee at 1 p.m. Monday to advance legislation and resolutions designed to expand Pennsylvania’s energy independence. Metcalfe believes that ramping up energy production in Pennsylvania would allow the world to reject Russian energy imports.
Both the hearing and the voting meeting will be streamed live online through Metcalfe’s website.
