The Butler City Shade Tree Commission is offering help to residents and local municipalities in saving the Pennsylvania State Tree.
The Commission plans to host a demonstration on Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. at 127 Franklin Street in Butler focusing on how to best fight the invasive insect Hemlock Woolly Adelgid.
A master arborist will use information available through Rainbow Ecoscience to talk more about systemic treatment options including soil drench, trunk injection, and bark sprays to fight this pest that is threatening to destroy hemlock trees across the eastern U.S.
No advance registration is necessary to attend this free event. More information is available through the City of Butler Shade Tree Hotline at 724-209-8899.
