A new proposal in Harrisburg is looking to help find those who are responsible for serious hit-and-run accidents.
Senator Anthony Williams says the new bill would create a Hit-and-Run Advisory Alert system. He explains how it would work.
“Repair shops would be put on notice that if someone comes within a certain period of time with damage to their car then that information would be advanced to the state police and then they would investigate those cars,” Williams said.
The new proposed system is called “Jay Alert” named after 8-year-old Jayanna Powell, who was killed in a hit-and-run accident near Philadelphia in 2016.
