Today is Earth Day, and a local state park will observe the occasion with a volunteer event this weekend.
On Saturday, those interested in helping clean Moraine State Park will be meeting at the South Shore Park Office for a day of assistance.
The gathering will begin at 10 a.m. with weeding and mulching in the native species garden in front of the park office, and will wrap up around 2 p.m. Participants are advised to dress for the weather and bring work gloves, lunch, snacks, and water.
Pre-registration is required for Saturday’s event, and can be done through the park office by calling 724-368-8811.
