May is National Electrical Safety Month and residents are encouraged to address potential electrical hazards around the house.
The National Fire Protection Association is reminding people about this year’s theme which is “Energy Resilience” with a focus on emerging technology such as electric vehicles and energy storage systems.
The organization is recommending homeowners use surge protection devices, regularly test ground-fault circuit interrupters, and have all electrical work done by a qualified electrician.
The NFPA website has information about electrical codes and standards as well as worker safety training and resources related to home electrical fire safety.
