For the third week in a row, gas prices have increased both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, increased by a dime over the past week to reach at $4.52 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole rose by 13 cents during that same time to also arrive at $4.52. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Beaver at $4.45, while the most expensive is $4.60 in Warren.
The average national gas price increased by 16 cents over the past week to reach $4.48 which is 40 cents more than a month ago. According to AAA, the main factors driving prices at the pump are the high cost of crude oil as well as the switch to more expensive summer blend gasoline.
