State officials say the deadline to apply for assistance to pay energy bills has been extended.
The annual Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program—known as LIHEAP—will now have a deadline of June 17th.
Through LIHEAP, low-income families pay heating bills through cash grants, crisis grants for those without service, or crisis interface which includes repair or replacement of broken systems.
The original deadline to apply was supposed to be tomorrow.
Visit Pennsylvania’s COMPASS website or complete a paper application at the county assistance office. In addition to LIHEAP, the Office of Consumer Advocate encourages residents in need to contact utility companies to learn more about available assistance programs.
