Summer at the Butler Senior High School means that construction crews are fully engaged with making progress as quickly as possible but unforeseen factors have resulted in additional expense.
The Butler Area School District Board of Directors heard an update Monday night from the district’s construction manager on the Auxiliary Gym project as well as the classroom expansion project.
The Auxiliary Gym addition is expected to be fully enclosed this week but change orders totaling nearly $34,000 were necessary mostly to accommodate door hardware required by code inspectors.
The Board also approved change orders for the classroom expansion including changes to locker room floors and foundations due to underslab conditions totaling around $66,000.
The auxiliary gym project is scheduled to be completed in mid-August before school starts but work on the classroom addition is expected to continue into the fall.
