The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for today with temperatures expected to reach above 90.
They say with the warm temps and high humidity, there are times this afternoon where temperatures could feel as high as 104. The advisory is in effect until 9 p.m. today.
Officials advise residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Central Electric Cooperative has also issued a peak alert from 1-7 p.m. They ask customers to conserve power today by turning off non-essential electric items and raising your thermostat a few degrees to help conserve energy.
Overnight, temperatures will drop to 71 with a slight chance of showers. There’s a better chance of rain and thunderstorms arriving tomorrow, although temperatures are expected to be in the low 90s.
