David W. “Dave” Jacox, Sr., 80, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on July 17, 2022, at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
He was born August 21, 1941, in Butler, Pennsylvania, to the late William Jacox and the late Dorothy Jacox.
Dave graduated from Butler High School in 1959. He served in the Army 101st Airborne Division as an SP5. Dave entered on February 3, 1960, and was honorably discharged in 1963. He started working at Pullman Standard R.R. Manufacturing Co., from 1963 until closing in 1981. Dave started working for Armco in 1986 and retired in 2001. He was a Life Member of the NRA, Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club, Marienville Sportsman’s Club, and Harrisville Trap Shooters. Dave enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, mowing his grass, and watching John Wayne movies. Dave enjoyed special times with his children and grandchildren, camping, and Erie vacations. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by his many good friends and neighbors.
Surviving is his wife of over 58 years. Brenda (Meier) Jacox married her “soldier boy” on October 11, 1963; a son, David W. Jacox, Jr., and favorite daughter-in-law, Sharon (Dorsch) Jacox of Butler, PA; a daughter, Lorri (Jacox) Sheakley, and favorite son-in-law, Matt Sheakley of Harrisville, PA; very proud Pap Pap to his four grandchildren, Ashley (Jacox) Jacobs – widow of Heath Jacobs, Ben Jacox, Nick Jacox, and Jesse Sheakley; two great-grandsons, Liam Jacobs, and Jackson Jacobs; one special brother-in-law, David C. Meier, and his wife, Sandy (Walker) Meier; eight cousins, Sandy Hutchison, Don Gregg, Paul Gregg, Vickie (West) Turner, Kate West, Lisa Clark, Heidi Zaremba, Janet (Ihlenfeld) Miller; a special cousin-in-law, Gus Raabe, and his wife, Helen (Young) Raabe.
There will be no public visitation or funeral services.
