Gas prices dropped once again both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by a dime over the past week to settle at $4.31 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by 11 cents during that same time to arrive at $4.32. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $4.17, while the most expensive is $4.43 in Mercer.
The average national gas price decreased by a dime over the past week to reach $3.95 which is 62 cents less than a month ago but still 77 cents more than a year ago. The demand for gas increased last week but is still lower than last year at this time. The price of crude oil dropped due to concerns about an economic slowdown.
