Gas prices dropped once again both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by 23 cents over the past week to settle at $4.01 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by 18 cents during that same time to also arrive at $4.01. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $3.92, while the most expensive is $4.09 in Mercer and Uniontown.
The average national gas price decreased by seven cents over the past week to reach $3.77 which is 31 cents less than a month ago but still 59 cents more than a year ago. Although the demand for domestic gas increased slightly, the price of crude oil dropped last week based on concerns about global demand for oil.
