Members of the Wolf Administration are touting the state’s manufacturing industry as it takes center stage this week.
This is National Manufacturing Week and the state’s acting secretary of the Department of Community and Economic Development Neil Weaver says the industry plays a big role in the Commonwealth.
“Pennsylvania has the sixth largest manufacturing industry in the United States by employment and the industry provides more than $113 billion in GDP to the Commonwealth each year,” Weaver said. “It also employs more than 165,000 workers. That’s nearly 10 percent of all private sector jobs in Pennsylvania.”
Weaver estimates that Pennsylvania has over 114,000 manufacturing establishments in the state.
