The Butler Area Sewer Authority took a major step this morning in approving the multi-million dollar sale to the Pennsylvania American Water Company.
The five board members of the authority voted unanimously to move forward with the $231.5 million deal for PA American Water to purchase the authority.
This is the first step in the approval process, which now moves to both Butler City Council and the Butler Township Commissioners. The City is expected to vote on the move this Thursday; the Township is expected to do so next Monday.
If those entities vote to approve the agreement, the deal would then move to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission as the final step in the sale process.
