As we head into the final quarter of the year, investors are looking at a tough year for portfolios.
“We are down almost 25 percent year-to-date,” Local financial advisor Howie Pentony said. “That’s not a horror story, but it’s simply not good.”
However, Pentony does urge investors to remain engaged in the long-term plan.
“If you’re down 25 percent the relief should be pretty good once we have a turn.”
Pentony also says historically, October marks the beginning of a period of seasonal strength. But, with many external factors at play, it’s difficult to gauge where the markets will be going.
“The markets never do what you think they’re going to do. They go higher than you think they will, or lower than you think they will. So it’s going to be interested, because it is a period of seasonal strength and if we get any relief it may come in this time period,” Pentony said.
Pentony says typically this period of seasonal strength runs through April.
