Gas prices have dropped slightly both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, declined by three cents over the past week to reach $3.92 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole also dropped by seven cents during that same time to arrive at $3.93. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $3.63, while the most expensive is $4.05 in Mercer.
The average national gas price decreased by 16 cents over the past week to reach $3.38 which is 41 cents lower than a month ago but gas is still three cents more per gallon than one year ago.
Although demand for gas held steady, the cost of oil dropped over the past week as a result of increased availability and a weaker dollar.
