The Christmas travel period is just over a week away and AAA is expecting another large number of Americans will be hitting the road.
An estimated 113 million people will be making a trip more than 50 miles away from home in between December 23rd and January 2nd.
That’s up 3.6 million from last year.
AAA says because both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day are happening on Sunday, more people are taking advantage of the long weekends.
In the Mid-Atlantic region, the number of travelers are expected to be around 12.8 million, with most driving by car.
