The Department of Human Services is taking time to remind residents that help is available for those dealing with depression around the holidays.
Andrew Bates is the department’s executive deputy, and he says those experiencing a mental health crisis have free 24/7 access to the national suicide and crisis line which is now 9-8-8.
“988 serves as a direct link for suicide prevention and mental health crisis support. Anyone can call, text, or chat, with 988 and they will be directly connecting to trained, compassionate mental health crisis response counselors,” Bates said.
Locally, the Center For Community Resources is also available to help residents struggling through crisis, including mental and financial assistance.
They can be reached by visiting their website.
