Gas prices have inched up locally but remained stable across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, increased by a penny over the past week to reach $3.75 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole stayed even during that same time at $3.74. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Washington at $3.60, while the most expensive is $3.80 in Mercer and Warren.
The average national gas price rose by four cents over the past week to reach $3.32 which is 17 cents more per gallon than a month ago and a penny more than one year ago.
Demand for gas mostly stayed the same while the cost of oil continued to increase as a result of more demand from China and a weaker dollar.
