Gas prices have increased both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, increased by four cents over the past week to reach $3.79 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole also rose by four cents during that same time to reach $3.78. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $3.71, while the most expensive is $3.82 in Mercer.
The average national gas price rose by a dime over the past week to reach $3.42 which is 33 cents more per gallon than a month ago and a dime more than one year ago.
Demand for gas has increased while the cost of oil continued to increase as a result of increased global market optimism.
