The first steps in the renovation of an area pool took place earlier this week.
At the Butler County Commissioners meeting, an agreement was put in place with Jefferson Township to use a Department of Conservation and Natural Resources grant to help update the Saxonburg pool at Laura Doerr Park.
Over $1.1 million is set aside now for phase one of the project, which includes replacing the pool mechanical system, a new pool heater and liner, along with a new pool deck and waterslide.
Jefferson Township is contributing $550,000 to the matching grant.
The project’s timeline is still not known at this point, with county officials saying it’s early in the process.
