Madaline G. Golec, 104, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2023, at the Newhaven Court at Clearview.
She was born April 5, 1918, in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Warren L and Mary Kehm Oesterling.
Madaline graduated in 1935 from Butler High School. She attended business college after high school and was employed at Armco Steel Company until 1944 when she married Robert C Renfrew. She was widowed in 1954 and returned to work at Armco. In 1968 she married Walter J Golec and was able to focus her time as a volunteer at Meals on Wheels, Ladies Auxiliary at Butler Memorial Hospital and other opportunities at St. Mark’s Lutheran church. She volunteered as a tutor for English as a second language students and was a longtime member of book club at the library. She enjoyed needle work and crocheting. Madaline also loved traveling and visited China, many countries in Europe and South America. She was able to visit Israel and the holy lands after she was 90 years old.
Madaline is survived by her son David (Deborah) Renfrew; three grandchildren, Robert T (Katrina) Renfrew, Mark (Emma) Renfrew and Sara Renfrew (Erik Dragos); four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and their children
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert C Renfrew; second husband, Walter J Golec; her daughter Mary Lee Renfrew; and her 3 younger siblings, Richard Oesterling, John H Oesterling, and Marion Cranmer.
A memorial service will be held Saturday February 25, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Butler.
