The proposed updates to the Mars Area School District could include a major upgrade to their athletic facilities.
At a presentation last week, representatives from the project management firm Thomas & Williamson said the district could build an entirely new football stadium. The firm said the current Athletic Complex stadium is aging and has limited space for renovations.
The estimated cost of the proposed football stadium is over $14 million. It would be located in an area that is currently woodlands on district property.
If the current football stadium were removed, the district could then expand the baseball field, add a multipurpose field, and other athletic improvements.
The district hasn’t committed to any of the plans in the proposal.
