Butler County’s 911 Center is unveiling new data that shows just how busy they were during the Saturday storms that happened just weeks ago.
Officials say that those two storms led to an unprecedented number of calls.
On Saturday, March 25th, the 911 Center was handling about 15.5 calls per hour prior to the storm. After the storm surged through, that number then jumped to 96 calls per hour over the next five hours.
But, the following Saturday was extraordinary according to 911 Coordinator Rob McLafferty.
“During that time frame, we were a little busier averaging 17.5 calls per hour. And then in the first hour of the event we went to 727,”
The next hour the 911 Center handled 577 calls. McLafferty said that works out to about 9.625 calls per minute.
The county commissioners thanked the dispatchers for their service, which also coincided with National Telecommunications Week.
