Gas prices decreased slightly both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by three cents to reach $3.87 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by two cents over the same period of time to settle at $3.79. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $3.62, while the most expensive is in Latrobe at $3.89.
The average national gas price fell by a nickel over the past week to reach $3.61 which is 11 cents more per gallon than a month ago but 57 cents less than one year ago.
Although demand for gas increased significantly, the cost of oil dropped this week to allow for the slight decrease in gas prices.
